I had the pleasure of traveling to Seattle the other day! What an incredible city to visit! Flying into Seattle from the East, looking out the left side of the aircraft the incredible Mount Rainer comes into view. Mount Rainer is one of the tallest mountain peaks in the United States and when the sun is out, is often viewable from the City of Seattle as well. Even into the Spring, it is not uncommon to see snow on the top of Mount Rainer. For those more adventurous, Mount Rainer National Park is a popular destination for hikers and those wanting to drive to the top of the mountain!
Landing in Seattle, if you get lucky, you will experience a sunny day and see the beautiful evergreen trees mixing with the multiple bodies of water that surround Seattle. One of the largest bodies of water is just to the west of Seattle which is the Puget Sound. This is a waterway to the Pacific Ocean and is home to significant commercial boat and ship traffic.
The downtown of Seattle is fairly compact and walkable. Within the city center are the homes of Seattle’s three major league teams. The hockey arena is actually underground which is quite atypical for a sports arena. The baseball stadium T-Mobile Park is extremely popular with residents as Seattle’s baseball team often boasts some of the largest attendance numbers in professional baseball each summer.
Outside the city, there are many suburbs of Seattle which offer great opportunities for shopping and dining. When in Seattle, seafood is always on the menu, there are many great restaurants that serve fresh seafood that is caught in the local waterways.
One of the more unique places to visit around Seattle are the two Boeing museums. One museum is right near the airport, the other is about a 25 minute drive north of Seattle, which even includes an opportunity to tour the assembly line of future Boeing aircraft. If you are a fan of flying. This is an amazing tour that takes about 90 minutes and attendees learn not only about the history of Boeing but also how aircraft are built today and beyond.
There is so much to do in Seattle that it frequently takes a week to explore many of the highlights of Seattle. I highly encourage everyone to take the visit to Seattle and try to shoot for the spring and summer when the weather is likely to be at its best!
