Recently, I had the pleasure of traveling to Minnesota. Minnesota is an incredible part of the United States that has amazing summers due to it being located so far north. As a result, there are places in Minnesota that have 16 hours of daylight in the summer months. Minnesota is one of those states in the United States that has numerous outdoors activities. The geography of Minnesota is such where the state boasts having 11,842 lakes that are at least 10 acres in size!
One of the most picturesque state parks is Interstate park along the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin. This park is a short one hour drive from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The park contains glacial potholes which are smooth carved holes into rock formed by glaciers. The area was once covered with lava many many years ago!
In addition to the potholes, the park contains the St. Croix River which separates Minnesota from Wisconsin. The river also has numerous waterfalls along its path which is quite beautiful to check out, especially on a hot summer day.
The largest city in Minnesota is Minneapolis. Minneapolis is home to the Minnesota Twins baseball team which has a diehard fanbase from not just Minnesota but around the North Central United States. The Minnesota Twins have a cool story about how the team acquired its nickname. The cities, Minneapolis and the state capitol of Minnesota, St. Paul are known as the “Twin Cities” as the two cities are adjacent to each other.
The Twins play their home games at Target Field which is one of the nicest ballparks in the US. One of the features of the ballpark is there are many lounges and patios where fans can mill around and watch the game action.
The ballpark is downtown and contains incredible views of the city skyline, as Minneapolis is home to many skyscrapers. Major retailers such as Target and Best Buy have their corporate headquarters in Minnesota.
Minnesota is also home to many unique foods, one of the most famous is the Juicy Lucy which is a burger featuring molten cheese stuffed in the middle of the burger patty. If you like burgers, this take on a cheeseburger is a definite must try.
